12/08 - This place needs a total renovation. Bathroom very tiny no separate dressing area except for the bedroom suites. Lots of mildew and mold. No variety at the buffet, staff was cooperative but bland. Ran out of cups for drinks on two different occasions. Towels felt like sand paper, bring your own. Lose your key you'll be charged $200 USD. Pool water was warm because of the sun, the ocean water was warm too. I would not recommend this property to anyone until a total renovation has taken place. The price was exceedingly high for what we got. This was my second visit to this hotel. Stayed there 10 years ago and it shows that it has deteriorated over time and not maintained. Property is supposed to be under new management. Hopefully they will add air conditioning to the dining area and the elevators which are not air conditioned and very uncomfortable. Won't go back. 9/08 We just got back from a week at Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay. This resort was not one that I would come back to. The bus ride from the airport was hot and stuffy. There was no air and it took forever. The people that work at the hotel are fairly nice but we really didn't feel like we got anything special for our money. The drinks were horrible and they never had any real fruit for the drinks at the bars! The first day we were there they had quite a few local kids there to eat at the buffet and swim in the pool. They were very loud and disruptive. The adult swimming pool was okay, but again, nothing special. Our room had a bad view and even with the "priority club" membership, there was never a better room available to us even after I requested it every day. The check in took forever and it seemed like there were always lines that were forming. Some people got drinks as they waited, but we were never offered any. We just stood there in line for over 30 minutes waiting to get a room. We smelled pot and were asked if we wanted to buy some marijuana so many times I can't count - inside of the resort! The breakfast were the best meals we had. There were very few fruits available. We stayed for a week and I saw fresh mango once. Other times we had some pineapple, canned peaches and pears, watermelon and cut up apples. I could have had that at home any day. This hotel has a lot of kids that come. I think they are free under 12, which is good for families that want a reasonable price. The pools were dirty with mold and the entertainment was awful. The one nice Italian restaurant had good food and great drinks. By the end of the week we were ready to leave. I would go back to Jamaica, but I would probably pay more and stay somewhere else next time. Patti, MO

6/08 This was my first visit to Jamaica and I went with a large group of family. The service was great everywhere except the front desk and housekeeping. waited over two hours to get my room after check-in time. We got there early that morning, so I understood having to wait until people checked out, but it was ridiculous. Everyone else in my party got their rooms early except me. The rooms are not very clean. Small bathroom and mildew everywhere. This was in several rooms that I visited. The linens were not changed daily even as I requested.

The food was very good and in abundance. Also, very good entertainment for everyone. They had games and activities for the kids. There were bands, singers, and karaoke for the adults. I would come here for the value or with kids only, but if it were just me and my husband, then I would choose elsewhere. Can be a bit noisy around the resort and you can hear everything in the room next to you. I had a deluxe room which only gave me an ocean view, otherwise no reason to call it a deluxe. The spa had really good prices. The massage was great. The location was great to me. We were able to drive to downtown Mo' Bay for shopping in no time. My teenage son was able to run around safely and the security here is top notch. They really look out! Tammy, NC

4/08 I stayed 3 nites at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Jamaica. It was clean, the staff was not especially friendly, but they were courteous (with a few exceptions). The food had little variety and was below average. I do love Jerk chicken and pork and there is plenty to be found, so I was satisfied. The room was adequate, could use updating. Overall, this hotel satisfied my basic needs of relaxation on a budget. If you have minimal expectations, this is a good place to stay. EB, Mich.

1/2008 We have stayed at the Sunspree for 4 years now and always look forward to going back! When we first checked in, we were given a drink while getting our wrist bands! The rooms were clean and up to high standards. The room had 2 double beds, balcony or terrace overlooking a great view, nice and big tv, and plenty of light! Tthe bathroom was kept clean especially after a short visit from the maids every morning. The pool was very clean and spacious and plenty of sunbeds spaced around it. The beach was nice with pure golden sand and lovely clear blue water. The water activities were great!!! The entertainment during the day and night on the center stage had live bands, fashion shows, games, and more! The food in the buffet and resturants are all good and serve awesome food till late at night! The sports are good with a wide choice of activities to choose from. This hotel is the best hotel ever and we cant wait to go back there next year. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families! Jan, California

1/08 My wife and I booked a 4-night stay for a quick getaway at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. We were looking for an inexpensive trip and just wanted sun, pretty water and relaxation. We got exactly what we paid for. Our room was your typical Holiday Inn room - although it was a large room with a king size bed, sofa and table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was average. Everything was clean. We didn't use the pool, but noticed that everyone had to be out of the pool by 6PM every evening for pool maintenance. We spent most of our time on the beach. While it is not a wide beach, it is nice. There are plenty of beach chairs. The sailboats are alot of fun. The food in the buffet restaurant was just okay, however Cappicinos Restaurant was very nice. All the staff was nice. We especially enjoyed the bar staff at the Jerk Hut. We also enjoyed the nightly evening entertainment.   Tom
