9/08 We had a great week in Ocho Rios in September. We stayed at the Sunset Jamaica Grande, an all inclusive and beautiful hotel. The dinner buffet was terrible but there was other restaurants in the hotel that you have to make reservations for and you should do it right after you check in. We also went on the COOL RUNNINGS TOUR which takes you out snorkeling and then to the Dunns River Falls. The falls were spectacular, make sure to bring a water camera. THe snorkeling wasn't that great because there were so many people in the group and it was hard to find an undistrubed spot. We actually found the snorkeling by our hotel to be much better. The Cool Runnings cruise itself was a great time! It's a party boat so look out for the punch. The shopping is a little boring and even though you can get things at a good price, much of what we saw was a repeat of the last shop. The only complaint I have is that it is about 2 hours from the airport. Otherwise a great trip. I can't wait to go back! Sean, OR

6/08 We had such a great time!!!! Service is wonderful!!! The resort is so beautiful and clean. It was like paradise!!!! We will definately go back. Great for couples or families with children of all ages. Lots of activities and entertainment. Every day was wonderful. The town was just at the end of the road to our resort. A very short walk and you are in the middle of Ocho Rios. Very cheap gifts and lots of bartering for anything you want to buy. Overall just a wonderful experience that I hope I can do again sometime soon. Amy - Michigan

4/08 This is my second time at Sunset Jamaica Grande. Me and my family went for 10 days. The ride from the airport is only 2 hours. It is longer than that if the bus stops at other hotels to drop of or the people on the bus wants to stop and shop on their way in. I liked every thing about the hotel. It had every thing for both me and husband and 5-year old daughter to do. However we did nothing but go to the beach and pool every day. The choice of food was good for me and my husband however for my daughter it was a bit difficult for her because she is a picky eater but she made do with the french fries with lots of fruits and bread and pancakes. The hotel had lots of tours for their guests to attend which does cost a pretty penny but it is worth it. We did the nine mile tour which was a tour of Bob Marley's birth place. This is a very educational trip. One of the must do trips is Dunn's River Falls, we loved it. Every night the hotel had entertainment which was good if you did not feel like going out.
We had a great vacation again! Cindy - OK

4/08 I will be short and sweet. Our room was musky and outdated, but the view in our room was gorgeous. You are never in your room so who cares! That is my only complaint about the resort. Other than that, sit back and relax, mon. The resort staff are very friendly and accomodating. The pools were clean, the bathrooms were clean, the food was good, but I do have to admit, the jerk chicken is awesome. Sip on Jamaican rum and drink some red stripes...now this is what I call a vacation. Yea, Mon! I went to Dunn's River Falls (breath taking) and went golfing over at Sandals Golf resort in the mountains...fun, but not as challenging as you'd hope. The caddy was great!
Tip on shopping:
If you want to go to the markets to shop for gifts, be prepared for some aggressive sales tactics. I have met the super aggressive, the 'feel sorry for me and buy something' tactic, 'you're my first customer' tactic, they ask your name and carve it in to something so you have to buy it tactic, they put it on you tactic...just be prepared to be a little overwhelmed. Great trip - highly recommend! Joe - Indiana Back to Jamaica Review Index
