6/08 We just returned from a week stay at the Bahia in Runaway Bay.
My wife and I were really disappointed. It wasn't a complete disaster. We stayed at the Bahia resort in Mexico a year ago and were hoping for something similar, but this trip wasn't even close.
The room was clean but housekeeping ran out of fresh towels and wash clothes a couple of days during our visit before getting to our room.
The room air conditioning didn't seem to be working very well and when I asked for it to be checked, they said everything was fine. It was cooler than outside but certainly not cool. In speaking with other guests at the pool we weren't the only one that had a warm room the entire stay.
Our worst complaint would have to be the staff. They were not friendly and often had an attitude that they were being bothered.
It was hard to make a reservation at the restaurants so we ate at the "Orchid" buffet every day except one. Only two of the specialty restaurants are open each night so they filled up fast. We did manage a seating at the Garden Grill one evening and the food was only average at best.
On the plus side, I must say the food was good at the buffet with plenty of choices. The grounds and buildings were beautiful. The water was warm and clear, great for snorkeling. KJ, MI

5/08 Our rooms were ready as soon as we arrived . The rooms were spacious and modern and cleaned daily. Our bathroom had a bath and a seperate walk in shower. The pool was large with two swim up bars although only one was open during our stay. The beach directly in front of the hotel was quite rocky, but the beach to the left of the hotel was lovely and sandy with clear warm sea water.
We ate at the buffet most nights and there is something for everyone. Although I would recommend going earlier rather than later. The staff in the hotel were friendly apart from a few that seemed very unhelpful and almost rude at times. The women seemed a lot worse than the men.
There is a Jamaican chicken hut by the beach which is good.
I would certainly go back to this hotel. It has a show on every night. After that there is a club and another bar if you would like to take advantage of the free drinks!!!

1/08 I stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica in January with a group of friends. The Bahia Principe was fantastic. The hotel rooms were gorgeous - most of us viewed the pool and ocean with huge balconies. The food and drinks were fantastic and the staff were incredible. The beach does leave a little to be desired. All in all, this is a 5 star hotel and I would recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Jamaica. Tina, OH
