8/08 We just returned from El Cozumeleno. For the most part we were very pleased with the resort. Our room was large and clean but the beds were unbelievably hard! The maid service was great. Our room was on the 3rd floor in the south tower and overlooked the pool and had a beach view as well. The grounds are well kept. There are plenty of free activities for those who want to participate (beach volleyball, snorkeling, daily stretching class, water aerobics, bingo, a kid's club, etc. The only complaint we had would be the food at the buffet. Breakfast was fine, but lunch and dinners were not great. All buffet meals are served in the open air restaurant near the pool. The food from mid-day on didn't seem very fresh and some of the meats and fish were pretty bad. The indoor restaurant was terrific, although you had to go downstairs by 8 a.m. to get a reservation there each day. The staff, especially in the restaurants and pool area were friendly and accommodating. Only other complaint--the free internet service was down for 3 of our 6 days and the elevators were out of service for 2 days. All in all a positive experience, we would consider staying there again. 6/08 This was our second visit and we had a great time. We stayed in the north tower on the 6th floor in June. The room was spotless and we had no issues with using the lockboxes. I even left some cash out on the table and it was still there after a return from swimming. The food is not gourmet by any means but average unless you are a really picky eater. Fajitas were awesome and the formal dining was much better this time around then it was 2 years ago. The adult Manta sunset cruise was good for getting out on the water and watching folks get crazy. The only real complaint I have is that this resort does attract lots of families with very young kids. There are birds and they do go for the food if unattended. The Coz is a great place! MB, NJ

5/08 - My husband and I stayed at El Cozumeleno in May.
We had a very relaxing vacation.
Our room (north tower, 3rd floor) was perfect for our needs; enough space to spread our stuff out without being in the way. The bed was hard, but that was fine and we had no trouble sleeping.
The food overall wasn't fabulous, but it wasn't that bad either. Average for an all-inclusive. We always found things to eat. Breakfasts were the best with the omelettes and smoothies. The fajitas at lunch were great too. The birds flying in and out got a little old as the week went on, even though the waiters and waitresses do their best to keep the birds away from the food.
We ate three times at La Veranda and always had great meals there.
The service was fantastic! The employees work so hard!
We spent most of our time at the North pool where it wasn't as busy. Thanks to Jose, Miguel and Eduardo for keeping our drinks full!
We did two days of diving with Ocean Tours. What a great experience. We were awed by the reefs and sea life. Our divemasters were awesome.
Overall, we had a fantastic time. We will definitely return.

4/08 - This was our 2nd and last visit. After our first visit we knew to request specific floors or rooms, in advance. This time we did and still got the shuffle. All the rooms here are not equal. They have 2 wings, one old and the other newer by far. The new wing has better bathrooms and furnishings. The food is cafeteria at best. Without the golf discount, this place is not worth your trouble. It took 2 days of a 5 day stay to get the rooms we paid for, Deluxe ocean view.

11/07 Our stay at El Cozumeleno Resort was excellent. We were there for four nights and 5 days. The service was excellent with a friendly staff greeting you with a smile. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The food was average for an all-inclusive resort; however, we always take along our favorite snacks to have on hand. The location was just a quick taxi ride to town for the sights and sounds, but the entertainment at the hotel was very enjoyable also. KB, MN
