2/09 I can't see anyone finding fault with this resort! We stayed for a week and would have loved to stay longer. We have travelled to mexico approx 20X in similar resorts and this was by far the best. Not to say that there isn't room or improvement somewhere. I didn't like the check-in process. It was really just an opportunity to sell an upgrade. Our upgrade offered was for $250, a room on a higher floor. The exact same room as we would have had, but higher up. The views from ALL the rooms are perfect! The beach was very small but not a problem as the beach in the residing property is good. The food is SO good. We ate every day at the Spices restaurant (buffet) and it was always good.
The rooms are beautiful and the beds so comfy! We used the jacuzzi tub every day!
I have to say with all the resorts we have stayed at, most of them I would have become tired of the food. But this one I would LOVE to spend 2 weeks. The food is that good!
Enjoy yourselves and don't let the little things bother you.

1/09 - We just returned from a 4-night stay at The Royal.. This was our 10 year annisversay and I could not imagine staying anywhere else. We did the online check in 24 hrs. prior. Everything went very smooth upon arrival our room was not ready, but that was alright. We drank our champagne, walked around took some pictures etc. We were in Room #438 and it was breathtaking, perfect, the view was wonderful. The bed is amazing! You almost never wanted to leave the room. We had room service often and it was always perfect. The shower was amazing. The pools are great. The beach is a little beat up, but the hotel is not responsible for mother nature, and the staff was working very hard to make the beach as good as they could considering the weather for the last few years. The hotel staff was great with drink services and cold towels. We had a couples massage our first night and it was AMAZING. I would reccomend this to everyone. The food was excellent. We loved Asiania for dinner, the show cooking was great. Maria Maries was wonderful, surf and turf night was great. We ate at Pelicanos for lunch. They say for the hotel that there is no dress code, but that is not true. Men are required to wear long pants and closed toe shoes in all restaurants for dinner and also men must were shirts at Pelicanos for lunch even though it is next to the pool and beach. If you have a future trip planned to this resort have no worries because this resort is just short of perfect. Kim - IL
1/09 - My husband and I just came back from The Royal Cancun after a 5 day, 4 night stay. IT WAS AMAZING! Every aspect of this hotel experience was wonderful. The food was excellent and the rooms were beautiful. ALL of the employees were friendly and welcoming and the service was impeccable. We've been to all inclusives before and this experience blew all of the others out of the water. Kathy, MI

12/08 - We stayed at the hotel from December 1-4 in a Royal Jr Oceanfront Suite. We wanted a corner suite but the hotel was fairly sold out and that was OK because the room was perfect. We used the online check-in 48 hours prior to arrival and chose our room. When we arrived we were taken to the concierge on the 6th floor and given champagne and cold towel. Our room was not ready but not a problem for us, we just headed out to start eating and drinking. We have been visiting Cancun for 7 years and have never been happy with the food selection at hotels. They always seem over-processed and not fresh, especially the buffets. Not so at the Royal, everywhere we ate was tasty, fresh, and overall lovely. The drinks were a little weak for us, but we just ordered an extra shot of vodka. Our room was exactly as it looked online and absolutely wonderful.
The beach area is very small but you can still sit in the cabanas and enjoy the view or take a nap. We went in the ocean every day, there was an area in front of the Flamingo hotel to the right that was fairly calm and you could swim out quite far and enjoy the waves.
The employees really do make the hotel even better. They try and accomodate you whenever they can. We tipped while we were there but I saw a lot of people who did not tip and they received the same type of exceptional service we did. I just believe in giving something for great service. Our room was in front of Pat O'Briens and Margaritaville but we did not once hear any noise inside the room. The beds are heavenly!
The pool area is nice. We were up and at breakfast by 7am every morning and I did see people saving the chairs, but we never had a problem getting a chair later in the morning. I will say that it seemed like there were only one or two people taking drink orders by the pool so it seemed like a long time. However, we could have got up and walked a few steps to the pool bar if we weren't so lazy :)
The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We have stayed at Melia Cancun, Fiesta Americana Condesa, Cancun Palace, and other hotels over the years and we have never had such a nice room!
We are eagerly awaiting our return trip!! Steve, OH

11/08 - My husband and I stayed in a Royal Junior Suite Oceanfront room and absolutely loved this hotel and room. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
The staff at this resort is the best of any all-inclusive, cruise or any trip that we have ever taken. We did tip but not always and the service was excellent regardless.
Food was better than other all-inclusives that we have gone to in Mexico and St. Lucia. We liked the shrimp cocktail in Pelicanos, it was excellent. We loved the sushi and teppanyaki in Asianas and the fillet was excellent in Marie Maries.
For fun go to the club The City and to the bar across the street Pat O'briens. The City is unreal. Be prepared to sleep in the next day.
Fernando and Said were lots of fun by the pool and also going out at night. You pretty much have to leave the hotel after 10pm for any fun as it is quiet.
We met a lot of nice people there, friends I hope to see again and travel with again.
If you go here you will not be disappointed!
