7/08 Atlantis on Paradise Island was incredible. It was more beautiful than expected. There was so much to do. You could relax by one of the pools, go on water slides or go snorkeling in the ocean. The beach is right outside of the resort and the water is so warm and clean. Hotel service could use a little help, sometimes I got the impression that they really didn't want to be there.
The restaurants are expensive but the portions are huge, you leave full and satisfied. When people are working for tips they can really put on a show.
We ate at the Bimini Road Restaurant the first night. I ordered the MAHI MAHI, it was delicious and priced at around $35.00, I could only eat half of it.
The second night we ate pizza at the Marina Pizzaria. We ordered a large for $32.00 and that fed two hungry men and a starving lady. The pizza was fantastic.
We also tried the Sea Fire Steak House. I ordered the lobster tail, $50.00, and the guys ordered steak, $50.00. You don't have to order any sides at $9.00 each since you get a spinach salad and bread and shoestring hashbrowns with every entree. Also if they offer you bottled water, expect to pay $9.00 a bottle.
We also tried the buffet dinner at The Market Place, $45.00 a person. The selection was big and the food was great, but after the service you received in the restaurants it's hard to even compare the experience. We also went to Johnny Rockets. The burgers were about the best thing I have ever eaten. At $15.00 a person and including french fries and a drink, you just can't go wrong.
To save money, eat at Starbucks for Breakfast/lunch. They have an excellent choice of breakfast sandwiches and wraps for $5-$6.
Everything at Atlantis is extremely over priced, but across the street there are some deals. You can pick up bottled water for $2.50 and snacks for a few bucks. There is no real place to by food you can prepare in your hotel room. The local grocery store is ridiculously overpriced.
We took the water taxi over to the city of Nassau for only $6.00 round trip. There is a tour guide on the boat and he will ask for tips as you dock at the other side. Everything is just as expensive as on Paradise Island. Not a whole lot to see, but you should check it out anyway.
Taxis are pretty cheap, about $40.00 including tip for three people and three suitcases from the airport to Atlantis. The taxi drivers are very friendly and have no problem stopping for photo ops.
Overall the experience was incredible and we didn't want to go home. Tammy, MI

6/08 - We just came back from the Atlantis and it was beautiful, but the food was very over priced. This is not an all inclusive resort. We were aware of this but was not prepared for the outrageous cost. I thought I could pay for the meal plan when we got there as it says on the website, but was told it was no longer available. It cost 4.00 for a can of soda. Also, they add in 15% gratuity for everything you bought. Service was poor and not very friendly. Also alot of the resturants didn't have a kids breakfast menu. They wanted 16.00 for 3 pancakes and 2 pieces of bacon.
I did enjoy the kids club for our daughter. She had fun and the activities were neat.
If you plan to go bring a couple of boxes of cereal, a cooler, water, and snacks to save some money. Hope you have a better experience than what we had. Our 5 day vaction cost use around 2500.00. Sandy, OH
